Unisex Knit Hat

This is the first knit hat that I worked using circular needles and double pointed needles (DPN's).   I followed the free pattern from Red Heart found here
The most difficult part of working this was doing the decreases on DPN's.   I mostly crochet.    I found that crocheting hats goes so much faster than knitting them because you use only 1 hook throughout the entire project.

The Red Heart pattern above is written to fit most men.   I failed to notice that the yarn used in the pattern was #5 Bulky, and I started knitting with a #4 worsted weight.   I followed the pattern and used the recommended needles.

I was fairly pleased with the completed product, but the hat was small on me.     Using the worsted weight yarn will produce a women's or teenager size hat.   As with most of my projects, this hat will be donated to a local charity.

As always I thank you for stopping by to visit ...

Charity Project-Baby Hats for the local NICU

The days are getting longer and HOTTER down south . . . and I've been busy finishing up the batch of baby hats for the NICU (Neonatal ICU) at a local hospital.

I'm always amazed at the miracle of birth and the tiny babies who fight for a chance to live as normal healthy babies.   Every little hat that I make reminds me that there's a tiny hero out there who is waiting to go home to be with his parents.

A new batch of hats being delivered . . .

As always, I thank you for stopping by ... please consider donating one of your creations to your favorite charity.
